Divya Dhwani Musical

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This policy explains what "Divya Dhwani: Japa Counter" (the app) and divyadhwanimusical.com (the website), published by Divya Dhwani Musical ("we", "us"), do with your data. It describes only what the app and website actually do today.

In short

  • There are no ads anywhere in the app or website, and no ad SDKs.
  • We do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we do not sell or rent your data.
  • The app works fully without an account. Your japa data stays on your phone unless you choose to sign in.
  • Signing in is optional and only needed for the leaderboard, points, favourites and membership.

1. Data that stays on your phone

Without an account, everything you do in the app is stored only in a local database on your device and is never sent to us: japa counts and sessions, malas, streaks, mantras you add, Sankalp progress, reminders and alarms, settings, and notification history. If you export a backup file, it is saved where you choose; we never receive it. Uninstalling the app removes this data from your phone.

2. Data we collect if you sign in

You can sign in with Google or with your phone number. If you do, we store on our server:

  • Google sign-in: your Google account ID, your email address, and your name (used as your initial display name).
  • Phone sign-in: your phone number. The one-time code (OTP) is sent and checked by Firebase Authentication (Google).
  • Optional profile details you choose to add: display name, gender, age and an avatar picture. All of these are optional.

Your email and phone number are never shown to other users. The leaderboard shows only your display name and points.

3. Points, streaks and leaderboard

If you are signed in, the app syncs a summary of your practice so we can compute points, rank and streaks:

  • The japa count for each day, tied to a random identifier generated by the app. We do not learn which mantra you chant.
  • The dates on which you practised.
  • Simple activity events: which content item you opened or listened to (for example a bhajan, meditation or paath), and Sankalp completions.

We use this only to award points, show your rank and streak, and run the leaderboard.

4. Favourites

If you are signed in and mark a bhajan, wallpaper, paath, suvichar or meditation as a favourite, we store that choice against your account so it follows you across devices.

5. Push notifications

If you allow notifications, the app registers a device token with Firebase Cloud Messaging and sends it to our server (with the platform, "android", and your account if you are signed in) so we can deliver announcements. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings. Reminders and alarms you set in the app are scheduled locally on your phone and do not use our server.

6. Sadhak Membership and payments

Sadhak Membership is purchased through Google Play Billing. Google handles your payment details; we never see or store your card or bank information. To unlock membership we receive and store the product ID and purchase token and verify them with Google.

7. Content from other services

Bhajan videos play through the embedded YouTube player, so YouTube (Google) may collect data under its own privacy policy while you watch. Some bhajans link out to Spotify, JioSaavn or Apple Music; those open outside our app and are governed by their own policies. Any request over the internet reveals your IP address to the server that handles it, including ours.

8. The website

  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address to send updates. To unsubscribe, email us.
  • Sign-in: signing in on the website uses the same Google sign-in and the same account as the app, and sets a session cookie.
  • Theme choice (dark or light) is saved in your browser. We currently run no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on the website.

9. Third parties we rely on

  • Google Sign-In and Google Play Billing (Google LLC).
  • Firebase Authentication (phone OTP) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), provided by Google.
  • YouTube embedded player for bhajan videos.

We do not use any advertising network, analytics provider or crash-reporting service.

10. Where data is stored and how long

Account data is stored on our server and kept while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it as described on our Delete Account page. Data is sent between the app and our server over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

11. Children

The app is a devotional tool for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your rights

You can edit or clear your optional profile details in the app, sign out at any time, and use the app without an account. You may also ask us to access, correct or delete the data we hold about you, including under applicable Indian law such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Write to support@divyadhwanimusical.com.

13. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the app.
